The post conveyed the difficulty of the announcement: “Not an easy post to write, but to all of you who have devoted so many hours, days, and years praying for Mark, I would like you to know that Mark passed peacefully this morning. He was surrounded by myself, the kids, and his family.”
A stalwart in his profession, Dr. Mark Buettner was a 1992 graduate of Peoria Notre Dame and earned degrees from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1996, Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2001, and Bradley University in 2011. His illustrious career included a stint as a Personal Trainer at the Landmark Racquet & Health Club from 1992 to 2007. Subsequently, he served as a full-time Physical Therapist with OSF Healthcare and ran a private practice at Body Fitness Health Club, focusing on evidence-based musculoskeletal treatment.
Mark’s distinctive approach centered on empowering patients to self-care, emphasizing education over dependency on continuous treatments. His dedication to his craft earned him the admiration of both patients and colleagues, who respected him for his passion and commitment.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was a devoted husband to Pamela Thompson Buettner and a loving father to five beautiful children. His faith played a significant role in his life, as evidenced by his commitment to prayer and dedication to Christ and his Church.
