Born on March 15, 1953, to his beloved parents Lee and the late Abraham Goldstein, Jay was a dedicated professional and a loving brother to Berton, Gary, and Ken Goldstein. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois At Chicago College of Medicine in 1978 and went on to become a highly regarded specialist in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, working in Chicago, Illinois, and several other locations. Dr. Goldstein was affiliated with Glenbrook Hospital, where he made significant contributions to the medical community.
Known not only for his medical expertise but also for his kindness and generosity, Jay Goldstein was a respected colleague, mentor, and teacher to numerous physicians. He was the cherished husband of Marc Matlin, with whom he shared 40 years of love and companionship. Jay also served as a professor of medicine and vice head of clinical affairs in the department of medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. In addition to his academic roles, he dedicated his time as a staff physician at the University of Illinois Hospital and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, both located in Chicago.
