Doris Lamers, 55, of Wrightstown, WI after a courageous battle with brain cancer: Obituary

Wrightstown, Wisconsin – Doris M. Lamers, aged 55, passed away on September 20, 2023, after bravely facing brain cancer, surrounded by her loved ones who will deeply miss her.

Born on January 15, 1968, in Appleton to Joseph and Eleanor (Diedrick) Uitenbroek, Doris graduated from Wrightstown High School and went on to dedicate 30 years of her life working at Ahlstrom Munksjo. On April 26, 1991, she married Steve Lamers at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. Doris held a steadfast faith and actively participated in St. Clare Parish, offering her time as a volunteer. Family was of utmost importance to her, and she cherished moments spent with them—whether watching her children’s sporting events, camping, swimming, or her daily walks around the neighborhood.

Doris is survived by her husband, Steve, and their children: Steven (Tara) Lamers, Jonathon (Sarah) Lamers, Maria (Thomas) Schneider, and Andrew Lamers. She is also remembered by her grandchildren: Thaddeus and Theodore (children of Steven and Tara), Benjamin and Madeline (children of Jonathon and Sarah), and one more on the way (Maria and Thomas). Doris leaves behind siblings Luke (Michelle) Uitenbroek, Ann (Dick) Kussow, Mark (Renee) Uitenbroek, Carl (Cheryl) Uitenbroek, Bruce (Lori) Uitenbroek, Kay (Bryan) Van Rossum, Joe (Tracy) Uitenbroek, and Amy (Mike) Hendricks. Also grieving her loss are father-in-law and mother-in-law Maurice and Dallas Lamers, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Francis (Jodi) Lamers, Faith Keefer, Kevin (Lori) Lamers, Wayne (Nea) Lamers, Therese (Mark) Evers, Sheila (Stacey) Bialek, Allan Lamers, and Brad (Keary) Lamers. Doris will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor Uitenbroek, and her brother Jim Uitenbroek.

Family and friends may pay their respects at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site in Wrightstown (437 Main Street) on Monday, September 25, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, concluding with a rosary service. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Fr. Brian Wideman officiating. Doris will be laid to rest in St. Paul Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care are providing assistance to the family during this time.
