David Warfield tragically lost his life in a fatal collision on State Route 23 in the town of Greenport. The New York State Police commenced an investigation into the incident, revealing preliminary details indicating a deadly accident involving two vehicles, both engulfed in flames. Warfield, a 57-year-old resident of Hudson, was driving eastbound in the westbound lane, attempting to pass multiple vehicles. In an attempt to avoid an oncoming car, Warfield’s 2011 Toyota Tacoma collided with Michelle J. Burnham’s vehicle in the opposing lane.
While the Greenport Fire Department managed to rescue Burnham from her burning vehicle, Warfield was declared deceased at the scene. Burnham’s condition necessitated immediate medical attention at Albany Medical Center.
