David Noe passes away after boating accident; Tragedy strikes in White Oak River, Carteret County, NC

In a devastating turn of events, Stella, North Carolina, is mourning the loss of a beloved member of its community, David Noe, who tragically lost his life on Monday, October 16, 2023, after drowning in the White Oak River in Onslow County. The tight-knit community is reeling from the shock of this heartbreaking incident.

The 49-year-old man’s life came to a tragic end when his boat was found drifting in the White Oak River around 11:05 a.m. by a charter boat captain. A subsequent inspection of the vessel revealed his dog, cell phone, and wallet onboard. Approximately ninety minutes later, other boaters discovered David’s lifeless body near the marsh grass close to the White Oak River Waterfowl Impoundment outside Stella.

Born to Fletcher and Kate Noe on May 5, 1974, in Morehead City, North Carolina, David Noe was a vibrant personality and an active member of the community. He was a graduate of West Carteret High School, class of 1992, where he was known for his participation in the school band, endearing himself to many with his lively spirit.

David was passionate about the great outdoors, finding solace and joy in activities like fishing, boating, and hunting. His enthusiasm extended to CrossFit, where he embraced challenging workouts with determination and grit.

He leaves behind cherished memories with his children, Taylor Katelyn Noe and David Fletcher Noe Jr., both of Morehead City; his parents, Fletcher and Kate Noe of Morehead City; sister, Rebecca Morris and husband Jeff of Stella; aunt, Janet Turner of Morehead City; uncle, John Van Horn of West Palm Beach, FL; niece, Luci Morris; nephew, Davis Morris; and several cousins. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roper and Alma Van Horn, and his paternal grandmother, Golda Hill.

To honor David’s life, a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st, at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Nate Leonard. Friends and well-wishers can pay their respects at Munden Funeral Home on Friday, October 20th, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. David will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
