Moncton, New Brunswick, is somber as it bids farewell to a dedicated youth advocate, Danika Zoé Maillet, who passed away at the age of 25 on Monday, October 23, 2023, at her residence in Moncton. Born in Moncton, Danika was the daughter of Serge Hector Maillet (Lana) and Diane LeBlanc Maillet (Raymond Robichaud), both from Shediac.

Danika’s life was marked by her unwavering passion and selfless concern for young people at risk. She was known for her ability to form and maintain strong connections with people, drawing them to her cause.

For those who knew her, Danika was a dependable presence, available day or night, as a loyal friend, counselor, and confidant. Danika is survived by her parents, Serge Hector Maillet and Diane LeBlanc Maillet, as well as a brother, Samuel Maillet (Renée) of Haute-Aboujagane, a sister, Chloé Maillet of Shediac, a stepsister, Laura Robichaud of Tracadie, and a stepbrother, Luc-Olivier Robichaud of Tracadie. She also leaves behind her paternal grandparents, Hector and Andréa Maillet of Shediac, maternal grandmother Léona LeBlanc of Shediac, and step-grandparents Danny and July Desruisseau.

Tragically, she was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Laurie LeBlanc.

Family and friends are invited to offer their condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac, on Wednesday, November 1st, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. exclusively. The funeral mass will take place at St-Joseph R.C. Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac, on Thursday, November 2 at 11 a.m., followed by interment in the St-Joseph cemetery, Shediac.
