Curtis Olson of Appleton killed in Western Minnesota accident, 3 other injured

Appleton, MN – A tragic head-on collision occurred on Sunday afternoon in southwestern Minnesota, resulting in the death of an Appleton man and injuries to several others. The crash took place at approximately 4:19 p.m. on Highway 59 in Kragero Township, which is situated about 17 miles northwest of Montevideo.

The accident involved a southbound pickup truck and a northbound SUV. The Minnesota State Patrol is currently investigating the incident, and it remains unclear if alcohol was a contributing factor. Fortunately, all individuals involved were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The driver of the southbound pickup truck, identified as 35-year-old Curtis Dean Olson, lost his life in the collision. Tragically, one of Olson’s passengers, a 29-year-old woman named Amy Marie Olson, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Appleton Area Health. Two other passengers traveling in the truck, aged 13 and 15, were also injured but are expected to recover.

The driver of the northbound SUV, a 31-year-old woman from Odessa, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The accident prompted a joint response from various agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Montevideo Police and Ambulance, Milan Fire and EMS, Life Link Helicopter, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

On the afternoon of October 15,2023 my two boys, there dad Curtis Olson and stepmom Amy Olson (Doctor) were on there way to meet me for kid drop off. There was a vehicle who swerved into there lane and both vehicles hit head on. Curtis was DOA, Amy had to be flown by helicopter with critical life threatening injuries and by 2 boys suffered broken bones. I’m trying to raise money so Amy can recover and be able to financially support her girls in there time of need.Help pay for Curtis’s funeral and expenses, help pay for Amy’s hospital bills and travel for the girls to be able to see their mom in the hospital”.
