The Portage County community grieves alongside Beth and Jon Wilterdink following the tragic passing of their beloved daughter, 2-year-old Cora Elizabeth Wilterdink, in a heartbreaking incident on December 10, 2023.
Cora, a cherished presence in Camp Asbury, was a radiant light in every space she entered. Born on November 9, 2021, she brought immense joy and an indomitable spirit that touched the hearts of those around her. Her vivacity, fearlessness, and determination were remarkable for someone so young. Revered by her church family and adored by her older brothers, Robert and Clayton, Cora’s infectious spirit left an unforgettable impression.
Renee Vaughan posted on Facebook,
“I am unable to express how truly heartbroken I am at the moment. Cora was always a ray of sunshine and my little best friend. I am so lucky to have known her and to have been able to care for her.“I loved being able to watch her grow and help her learn new things.Cora, sweet sunshine, I’ll always carry you in my heart. I love you more than you know!”
Though her departure from this world came far too soon, the community finds solace in the belief that Cora now rests in the embrace of Jesus, her Creator and God.
Announcements from the Mayfield Church Family, where Cora was dearly cherished, shared the profound loss and urged prayers and support for Beth, Jon, Robert, and Clayton during this immensely difficult time. The community was encouraged to extend their love and care to the grieving family and to each other, embodying the spirit of compassion and unity.
To honor Cora’s memory, a service is planned for Monday, December 18, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Mayfield United Methodist Church. The service will be live-streamed on Boxcast TV, allowing the community to come together and pay tribute to the beautiful life of Cora Elizabeth Wilterdink.
