Gordon Edwards Burns, popularly known as Country Boy Eddie Burns, a popular television personality, died on January 13 at the age of 92. Gordon’s family did not disclose the cause of his death but said he passed away. at his home in Warrior, Alabama. According to their statement:
“He was a pioneer in both the music and television fields of Alabama, and his achievements will live on. The Burns family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the audience, fans, musicians and all others who made his life so memorable.”

Gordon Edwards Burns rose to fame as the host of the Country Boy Eddie Show on WBRC-TV. TJ Armstrong, a radio personality, shared his sadness on Facebook, noting that he has interviewed many celebrities, but Gordon is his favorite. Armstrong also said that Burns has always supported local talent and he went on to say:
“Eddie and I formed a bond when I began my career as the host of “The Dixie Gospel Caravan,” seat warming formerly hosted by the famous Wayne Wallace. Wayne is excited to be on my show multiple times because he and Eddie are best friends.”
TJ said that Eddie asked him in an interview if he could sleep at all after being busy all day. TJ replied that he only streamed for a few hours and the rest was pre-recorded. TJ also said that he edited his interview and was pleased with how it came out. He also said that his listeners informed him that parts of his broadcast were pre-recorded and he mentioned:
“I contacted Eddie, who had heard the same story, and he laughed because I had never heard anyone laugh before.”

Eddie Burns, a country boy, is famous for his roles in many television series.
Eddie Burns, born December 13, 1930, became interested in radio shows at the age of 10. At the age of 13, he bought a violin and taught himself to play it. He appeared on the Crossroads Variety Show on WBRC-AM with the band Happy Hal Burns and later toured with them. During the Korean War, he served on a psychological warfare team and performed on the Armed Forces Studio Network in South Korea, Japan, and Hawaii.
Gordon then worked as a poker player for WILD-AM program director Warren Musgrove. He later worked for WLBS-AM, WLPH-AM and Waterfalls USA, a water park. He played about 500 live shows before forming his own band, which debuted on WBRC-Tom TV’s York Morning Show.
Gordon is best known as the host of the Country Boy Eddie Show, which airs on about 100 radio stations. Burns announced his retirement in December 1993 and received the 2001 Media Award from the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. He lives in Blount County with his wife Edwina and their son Doyle. In 2016, Edwina passed away.
