After that, he was only allowed to speak to Whitney once, during which he begged her to personally deliver the ransom to an abandoned building in the Bronx.

The frightened singer, disguised in a wig and glasses, followed orders, handing a duffel bag of money to 6ft 7in gang leader Clarence “Preacher” Heatley 24 hours later, according to Collins.

He asserts that the alleged kidnapping took place in April 1993, when Whitney was at the height of her popularity thanks to the success of her movie The Bodyguard and her soundtrack. Whitney must deal alone with her husband’s kidnappers to pay the ransom before they set her free, unlike in the movie, in which Kevin Costner is the brave guide to guide her.

In his memoir Preacher of the Streets, former gang member Collins asserts that Brown was kidnapped for a $25,000 debt to a New Jersey cocaine dealer. The dealer was allegedly paid by Heatley, who is currently serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole after admitting to being involved in 13 gang-related deaths.

Heatley, who Collins called the “devil mountain” weighed 18.5 stone, later revealed to the gang that he had a plan to “earn over $25,000”. His thugs allegedly gave Brown high-end cocaine in a Manhattan nightclub before luring him to a Bronx apartment with the promise of more.

Collins alleges that Brown was taken to an empty, rundown apartment that the Preacher Group had occupied. One of Heatley’s thugs “knock him out with one punch” there. According to Collins, Bobby was tied up, naked, and had a cloth stuffed in his mouth when he woke up.

When the Preacher arrived, he removed the rag from Bobby’s lips. Preacher said to Bobby, “It’s a shame we have to kill you. While begging for his life, Bobby says that Whitney can pay the bill.

“The preacher left the room, and for the next two hours his men tortured Bobby. He was kicked. He is informed that Whitney will be killed. Each of them held a gun to his head. When the Preacher returned, Bobby was sobbing.

Collins claims that Heatley used this terror strategy in hopes of achieving a significant financial hit. Brown is allowed to call Whitney and threaten to kill her if she doesn’t give the gang money. Collins claims that Heatley then allegedly took Brown’s phone.

They come to a decision when Whitney begs him to spare her mate. She intends to personally offer 400 000 dollars to win her man back. The next day, she took it away. She wears a wig. She paid. Bobby can leave now.

According to Collins, after they left, Preacher sat there with a bag of cash and divided it among his men. Preacher pocketed most of it ($200k). Collins agrees with Whitney and Brown.

In his book, he describes his own time as a member of the Preacher Crew, whose main source of income was drug trafficking in Harlem and the Bronx. Preacher Crew is known for torturing victims who are unable or unable to pay their drug bills.

Collins reports that “Members would cut off the body parts of rival agents or defaulters before killing them.” The police eventually broke up the gang in a series of raids that resulted in its main members being jailed.

Yesterday, spokespersons for Whitney and Brown both declined to comment on the kidnapping allegation. Yet another depiction of the pair plunging into what Whitney’s mother, Cissy, 73, describes as “hell on earth” is sure to terrify family members.

After a turbulent 15-year marriage in which 45-year-old Whitney went to rehab three times, multiple police calls were called to their home, and their now 15-year-old daughter Bobbi was threatened with deportation by child protective services, Brown, 40. and Whitney, 45, divorced in April 2007.

Whitney was an emerging Hollywood A-list star and one of the most popular singers in the world at the time of the alleged kidnapping.

She still holds the record for the most consecutive number-one singles with seven singles, and at the time of the abduction, her side single from The Bodyguard, I Will Always Love You, remains the third best-selling song in music history, having topped the US charts for 14 consecutive weeks.

The career of singer and actor Brown flourished, but it also took its worst turn. Hers did too over the course of a few years. When marijuana was discovered in Whitney’s tote bag while she was traveling to Hawaii in 2000, her drug problem finally came to light.

In a 2002 television appearance, when she talked about inhaling cocaine, using marijuana, and using opiates, she acknowledged the full scope of her use.

After a legal battle, Whitney and Brown eventually came to an agreement regarding Bobbi’s custody. Brown recently failed in his attempt to start a reality TV show in the US.
