King Carole News
In case you didn’t get the message, Carole King is a true legend. The New York-Jewish vocalist, who wrote and co-wrote more than 100 Billboard Top Singles, revolutionized the music industry with her amazing lyrics and incredible vocals, and at the same time who is still as fiery and inspiring at the age of 78 as ever. (Not that there were ever any questions about it!)
The Jewish mother of four and singer is currently using her extraordinary talents to spread beauty and light during the coronavirus outbreak.
King has been making music videos of her great songs since the lockdown was issued, and updated the lyrics to reflect the current situation. King begins each video with a heartfelt statement. While I’ve never had the chance to witness this legend with my own eyes, these messages have a certain quality that makes them heartwarming, personal, and meaningful. She looked straight into the camera, and even though we knew she was at home, it really felt like she was talking to all of us.
Dayenu! These uttered messages alone are enough of a gift. But when she starts singing, the effect is simply transcendent. I get goosebumps with her vocals, and sometimes they even bring me to tears.
On March 30, she began her house concert series with “So Far Away” from her popular second studio album, “Tapestry”. It’s a song that perfectly expresses how difficult it is to be away from our loved ones at this time, just as it was written. That’s true even for those of us who may reside relatively close to our BFFS or extended family, yet feel extremely distant from them due to social distancing.
However, King added a unique 2020 touch to her new record by changing the lyrics to “Nobody stays in one place anymore?” “Everybody now has to stay in one place”
