Sikeston, MO – The Scott County community is in mourning following the tragic death of Ashton Skelton, a 18-year-old resident of Sikeston. Ashton was fatally shot outside a residence near Miner around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21.
The immediate aftermath of the incident led to Ashton’s passing. Law enforcement, including the Scott County Sheriff’s office, the Miner Police Department, the Sikeston Agency of Public Safety, and detectives from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, are collaborating on the investigation. Interviews with potential witnesses present at the scene are underway.
Heartfelt tributes poured in on social media, expressing the shock and grief felt by Ashton’s loved ones. Carly Skelton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, shared an emotional post honoring her brother, expressing disbelief at his sudden departure. She reminisced about their cherished moments and the profound loss she feels.
Ricky Skelton Jr., also took to Facebook to express his anguish and sorrow over the loss of his brother. He described his pain and the void left by Ashton’s untimely death, expressing regret for moments they won’t share and the love he had for his younger sibling.
