Ashlee Joost obituary: SWTSU alumnus passes away at 40

New Braunfels, Texas – The New Braunfels community is grieving the loss of Ashlee Rachelle Joost, a proud alumnus of New Braunfels High School, class of 2002. Ashlee, born on September 26, 1983, passed away at the age of 40 on November 27, 2023. Thoughts and prayers are extended to her family during this challenging time, though no cause of death has been reported.

Ashlee Joost’s vibrant spirit and enduring passion for learning marked her as a distinguished member of the esteemed New Braunfels High School Class of 2002. Following her graduation, she pursued and successfully obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas State University.

Known for her sharp intellect and unwavering commitment to politics, Ashlee’s influence extended beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on her daily life.

Ashlee is survived by her cherished Carmella and Beaker, her “Granny” Merle Wendell, her father David Joost, stepmother Elizabeth Joost, mother Rhonda McGrath, and stepfather Joe McGrath. Her memory will be treasured by her sister Audrey Valdez, brother-in-law Hector, brother Zachary Joost, sister-in-law Kristen, step-sister Pamela McCollum and husband Casey, step-brother Brenden McGrath, step-sister Shelby Deiley and husband Trey, and step-sister Elissa Karst and husband Keaton.

Ashlee held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, including Sophia Valdez, Cora Valdez, Hadley Joost, Baker Joost, Olivia McCollum, Charlotte McCollum, Clara McCollum, and Knox Karst.

Ashlee Joost is preceded in death by her beloved Nana and Papa, Cleta and Adrian Walters, and her Papaw Ernie Wendell.
