Andre passed away tragically on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, succumbing to an apparent fentanyl overdose, leaving family and friends devastated.
Andre Harrison was a beloved figure in the community, described by many as a loving teenager eager to embrace life to the fullest. His partner and friend, Ryan, and numerous other friends have left heartfelt tributes to honor Andre’s memory. Andre’s father, Jeremy Harrison, expressed his shock and grief over the loss on his official Facebook page, where he shared poignant memories of Andre’s life.
Jeremy Harrison reflected on the tragic incident, stating,
“Kim and I are still in shock with the news we received Tuesday evening.Our beautiful, beloved son Andre, died in an apparent fentanyl-related overdose. Andre was a high school senior, and he found great joy in running.He joined our family in 2014 and we were able to adopt him in third grade. His name, Andre Ezra, means “brave helper” and he lived this out every day, while working to overcome a painful past.We are thankful for all the friends and family who are already supporting us in this difficult time. We are thankful for a lot of great men and women who love Jesus and who went out of their way to model that to Andre over the years. We are thankful that he made a decision to pray and accept Christ at a track meet in May 2022, and later be baptized. And most of all, we are rejoicing with great assurance that he is in heaven, with no more pain.We celebrate the impact our son made on our lives, while grieving a beautiful life, cut short. Thank you for all your prayers and support.”
He went on to highlight Andre’s resilience in overcoming a painful past and the meaning behind Andre’s name, which signifies “brave helper.” The grieving father also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends and family during this difficult time.
Andre Harrison was an active member of the community, not only excelling in academics as a senior student at Ashland High School but also contributing to the workforce at McDonald’s. A sports enthusiast, he was deeply cherished by his family and loved ones.
