Allegany-Limestone Alumnus Thomas Moran dies after tragic accident in Olean

The community of Olean, New York State, is grieving the tragic loss of Allegany-Limestone Alumnus Thomas Moran, who passed away at the age of 23 on Monday, December 18, 2023, following a devastating accident at his residence.

The news of Thomas Moran’s untimely death spread through a heartfelt Facebook post, offering prayers and condolences to the Moran family. The post expressed, “Prayers to Thomas Moran and family. My sincere condolences for the sudden loss of your son. May God guide you all during this difficult period.”

Born on February 1, 2000, to parents Thomas and Trisha Moran, Tommy, as he was affectionately known, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. A graduate of Allegany-Limestone with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2018, he continued his education at Alfred State College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance Electrician, along with the Sigma Tau Epsilon certificate of Academic Distinction.

Tommy’s professional journey included working as a maintenance electrician at Lidestri Foods in Rochester from 2020 to 2022 before returning to Allegany as an electrician in 2022. Described as someone with electrifying energy, Tommy was adored for his charming and self-assured personality, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Tommy is survived by his parents, sister Madison L. Moran, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his beloved dogs, Toby and Kona. His passing has left a void in the lives of those who cherished him, and the community comes together to support the Moran family during this difficult time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, officiated by Fr. Michael Reyes. The Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. will receive friends on Friday from 3-7 p.m. Tommy will find his final resting place in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
