Abba Kabir Yusuf (born 5 January 1963) is a Nigerian politician who is the elected governor of Kano State. He served as a member of the executive council of Kano State from 2011 to 2015. In 2023, he was elected governor of Kano State.

Abba ibn Muhammadu Kabir ibn Danmakwayon Kano Yusuf ibn Muhammad Bashir ibn Galadiman Kano Yusuf ibn Sarkin Kano Abdullahi Maje Karofi ibn Sarkin Kano Ibrahim Dabo came from the Sullubawa section of the Genawa clan of Fulani, on his maternal side he was related to Walin Zazzau Sheikh Umarul Wali ibn Galadiman Zazzau Malam Ahmadu, his paternal grandmother Mother Zainab ibna Malam Saidu Limamin Huggalawa comes from the Limamin Huggalawa family in Bichi, his maternal grandmother, Mother Khadijat Naja’atu, is related to Gwani Mukhtar, leader of the Fulani Jihad in Kanem- Bornu Empire. Zainab ibna Malam Saidu Limamin Huggalawa’s mother came from the Limamin Huggalawa family in Bichi. His maternal grandmother Khadijat Naja’atu was related to Gwani Mukhtar, who was the leader of the Fulani Jihad in the Kanem-Bornu Empire.
Abba Kabir Yusuf Education
Abba was born in the Gaya local government area of Kano State, Nigeria. He attended Sumaila Elementary School and then Lautai Government High School, Gumel Local Government Area (now Jigawa State), where he graduated with a High School Leaving Certificate in 1980. Then , he was admitted to the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, where he obtained a national diploma in civil engineering in 1985.
He later earned a higher national diploma in civil engineering, certification and specialization in water resources/environmental engineering.
in 1989 from Kaduna Polytechnic, he worked for the National Youth Service Corps at the Kaduna Environmental Protection Agency from 1989 to 1990. He is also a graduate diploma holder. in management and earned a master’s degree in business administration from Bayero Kano University.
Abba Kabir Yusuf Political career
Abba is the Full Commissioner of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport (Kano State), Abba ran in the 2019 gubernatorial election held in 2019 and he was defeated by the governor current state of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Abba took the case to court to assert himself as a legally elected governor, the court ultimately dismissed the case.
