Zachary Fitzharris Obituary: Seymour volunteer fire fighter dies at 27

Senior Airman Zachary Thomas Fitzharris, a beloved member of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department and the United States Air Force, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 27. Born on February 26, 1996, in Tampa, Florida, Zachary brought joy and enthusiasm to all those around him.

Zack attended primary school in Tampa before moving to Tennessee in 2007, where he graduated from Seymour High School and was an integral part of the drum line. Following his graduation, he devoted his time to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, demonstrating bravery and dedication in serving the community. He played a crucial role in various important events and was honored as Firefighter of the Year in 2017.

Extending his commitment to service, Zack enlisted in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Senior Airman. He served with distinction as an RF Transmissions Systems Technician in the 51st Combat Communications Squadron, operating and maintaining critical communication equipment.

Zack was a beacon of light, always bringing joy and laughter to any gathering. His impact on the lives of others is immeasurable, and he is remembered as a friend and family member by many.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Fitzharris, father Tom Fitzharris, brothers Jake Fitzharris and Shawn Cosgrove, grandmother Sandra (Grandsandor) Rippy, Bobby Hughes, Kellie Fitzharris, and numerous extended family members and close friends.

“Receiving of friends for Zack will be 2:00-4:45 PM on Sunday, October 8 at Seymour Heights Christian Church with a service to follow.”

In honor of Zack’s memory, donations can be made to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Capital Campaign. The family will receive friends on October 8, 2023, with a funeral service following at Seymour Heights Christian Church. A graveside service and interment will take place at East Tennessee Veteran Cemetery on October 9, 2023, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
