The Mason County Sheriff’s office was alerted early on Saturday morning in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, when Wyatt was reported missing. He attended Roosevelt Elementary School in Point Pleasant and was in the fifth grade there, a young life filled with potential and promise.

Sunday brought the heart-wrenching discovery of Wyatt’s lifeless body, marred by a single gunshot wound to the head. The search for the boy had been initiated after his grandfather was involved in an ATV accident, creating a worrying chain of events. It was confirmed that Wyatt was in possession of a .22 caliber rifle at the time of the accident. However, investigators have not yet provided any indication of suspected foul play.

Heartbroken mother, Adrienne, shared that her son shared a close bond with his grandfather, often venturing together on hunting excursions for squirrels. On the fateful day, they had enjoyed lunch together when Wyatt decided to embark on a walk in search of squirrels. Tragically, he went missing shortly thereafter.

Hours later, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an ATV accident in a rural location.Once on scene, his grandfather who was involved in the accident, reported to officers he was using his ATV in an attempt to find his grandson who had gone missing earlier in the day.According to the grandfather, the 2 had taken a break from hunting to have lunch. After he was done eating, Wyatt had informed his grandfather he was going to walk around a bit and look for squirrels. Once the grandfather finished eating he called out for Wyatt but received no response.Wyatt was never seen alive again.On Sunday morning, Wyatt was found dead from a single gunshot wound. Wyatt was carrying a 22 caliber rifle and there has been no report if this was the gun that delivered the deadly wound. Authorities are not releasing whether foul play was involved or if this was just a tragic accident.Wyatt’s body has been turned over to the medical examiner for further inspection and the Mason County Sheriff’s office is continuing to conduct an investigation into this strange and tragic death.

Wyatt Eaves-Nibert was born on June 17, 2013, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to his parents Franklin Scott Eaves and Adrienne Dawn (Jason) Nibert.
