Quantavious Grier, commonly known as Unfoonk, brother of Young Thug, was jailed on May 4, 2023, after pleading guilty in a famous RICO case. He has been charged with illegal possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and unlawful possession of a firearm belonging to someone who works for or is associated with a violent street gang.
According to Atlanta Police, Grier was arrested at a traffic check at 4 p.m. when the smell of marijuana wafted from the vehicle. A gun was recovered while police officers were searching the vehicle. Grier’s situation worsened when a stain was discovered on the car’s windows and he was not wearing a seat belt while driving. Grier’s bail was not accepted when he was taken to court, but he is expected to appear in court again, but no exact date has yet been set. The arrest could affect the plea agreement he accepted last December.
Unfoonk pleaded guilty to violating the RICO Act in December 2022
Unfoonk pleaded guilty to one count of violating the RICO Act and one count of theft while receiving stolen goods. Under the plea agreement, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 10 years of probation. He is not allowed to contact Young Thug or the other defendants until the case is over, according to the terms of his probation. Unfoonk was also convicted of performing 750 hours of community service and observing a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. He is also prohibited from possessing a gun.
Unfoonk also revealed during an Instagram Live session that the agreement places certain restrictions on the terms he can use in his songs. While accepting his plea deal, he was accused of tipping his brother, but he denied the claims in his Instagram Story, writing:
“Damn people think I lied about my brother smh.” I don’t even care about any of that, peace and blessings.
According to court documents, Unfoonk is required to testify if the parties involved in the RICO case contact him.
