Movie Tom Horn

Steve McQueen portrayed illustrious, outlaw lawyer and gunman Tom Horn in William Wiard’s 1980 American Western film Tom Horn. Based on Horn .’s personal writings

Tom Horn, a famous stalker and scout who assisted in the capture of Geronimo, wanders toward the rapidly disappearing western frontier. He provokes award-winner Jim Corbett as he rode into a small town at the beginning of the story, and Corbett ends up unconscious and severely injured in the stables.

Horn confronts cowboys at an auction featuring Coble-branded cattle, calling himself a “stock detective” and asking them why their cattle are Coble-branded. He gave them fair warning and then launched a one-man campaign to kill or banish anyone who disturbed his patrons’ herds.

Horn used harsh but successful tactics. After a public gunfight, locals were concerned about his belligerent tendencies and sentiments turning against him. The owners of the giant cattle companies began planning to kill him because they understood that even though he was accomplishing exactly what they paid him to do, his methods ultimately will damage their reputation. For the same reasons, Joe Belle, who is interested in politics, wants Horn to stay away. When a young man herding sheep is shot by an A.45-60, the same caliber rifle that Tom Horn is known to use, their plot begins.

It took Horn a while to realize he was being played. He won’t leave the county or stay away from the town because he is confident and proud of his chastity. Coble and Glendolene try to warn him, but Horn ignores them. Joe Belle lures Horn out of the pub and into his office, where a man is secretly recording their conversation in the adjoining space. While denying responsibility for the murder, Horn stated that “if I shot that boy, it would be the best shot I’ve ever taken.” Horn was taken prisoner after this conversation.

Horn looked bewildered, not used to not being able to get in and out of his favorite hills at will. He manages to escape from the prison by prison break. Based on the testimony of the journalist who distorted the discussion between Belle and Horn, he was re-arrested and convicted.
