Thomas Hearns was born in Grand Junction, Tennessee. In his mother’s first marriage, he is the youngest of the children. Later, his mother remarried and had six children with this new partner. In Grand Junction, Thomas Hearns’ mother reared him and his two siblings. Thomas Hearns’ family moved to Detroit, Michigan, when he was five.
