Back in the Groove (under the Walt Disney Television Alternative Banner), Hulu’s first reality TV show, will introduce three women in their 40s, including Sparkle Hyche, to a resort in the Dominican Republic to meet fellow travelers half their age. Taye Diggs will host and assist 24 single guys flirting with three women, who will have the final say.
Steph, 41, from Miami, Brooke, 42, from Los Angeles, and Sparkle Hyche, 43, were the three Back in the Groove participants. Sparkle is a retired businesswoman in Atlanta. She is a trained esthetician, brow technician and makeup artist who has owned and operated Salon 422 for 17 years. She will now focus on raising her 19-year-old son and giving back to her community.
Sparkle Hyche started working at the age of 8.
She was born in New Jersey, where she found her passion for glamor at the age of 8. Hyche began sewing costumes for Barbies and her family members at an early age, and her work was so excellent that at the age of 11, she was hired to make clothes and makeup for other church members. She began styling celebrity hair for independent films and music videos in 2008. Hyche is the CEO and Creative Director of SHE Brand Sparkle Hyche Enterprises, a makeup brand that focuses on “women’s lifestyle, mind, body and soul, through materials and products,” alongside Salon 422.
Sparkle Hyche previously had another salon called Static Salon and worked for Regis Corporation as a “Master Cosmetologist and Enlargement Specialist”. She has worked with some of the biggest stars in her profession and her talent can be seen in films like Atlanta Dream and Married to Medicine. Hyche has also worked with track and field gold medalist Francena McCorory. She was named a Power and Influential Woman by Atlanta Magazine, a Phat Girl Fresh Lifestyle Honoree, and featured on the cover of Glambitious Magazine in 2015. Sparkle spends time with Susan G. Komen, Children’s Home Atlanta, the LEAP Mentor Program, and the American Cancer Society.
In 2012, she released a book titled Maintaining Your Relationship. Various “wet and dry” methods for extensions and natural hair are introduced in the book. Sparkle Hyche had never dated a young man and divorced when she was 24 years old. She raised her children as a single mother when she moved from New Jersey to Atlanta.
Back in the Groove will be available on Hulu on December 5.
Part one of Back in the Groove by Beyond Media Rights Ltd. and Walt Disney Television Alternative produced. The show will follow three women in their forties as they relive their youth and try to find love among 24 young men through various activities and exercises. Some candidates, such as Steven, 22, will try to keep important secrets from the girls, which can lead to heartbreak. After the older women eliminated the boys they didn’t associate with, each bachelor chose a partner at the end of the program.
Back in the Groove will premiere two new episodes on Hulu on Monday, December 5 at 12 a.m. ET. The popular streaming platform will continue to release two new episodes every 24 hours for the next three days. Conclusions will be available on Thursday, December 8.
