Matt Napolitano and his husband, Ricky Whitcomb, were upfront about their LGBT relationship. Napolitano died on Saturday in New York City, after a short illness. He was 33 years old at the time. Napolitano has been with Fox News since 2015, first as a writer on the Sirius XM program Fox News Headlines 24/7.
His rapid advancement led to his becoming a sports reporter for the same station. Although he temporarily left the network as a full-time employee in 2022, he returned in November of that year, coinciding with Fox News’ increased attempts to develop its audio content ventures. Napolitano worked as an anchor and reporter for Fox News, creating and producing pieces for all audio platforms. In addition, he provided sports coverage for the Fox Business Network’s daily “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” series, led by Neil Cavuto. Furthermore, Napolitano provided commentary for the Fox News Edge service, which provides news coverage and multimedia packages to Fox affiliate stations around the country.

Matt Napolitano is survived by his spouse, whom he married on May 27, 2023. Ricky Whitcomb, his husband, graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in theatrical production in 2006. Whitcomb’s professional experience includes working as an event organizer for StarQuest International Inc. from August 2014 to June 2018. Between August 2018 to July 2019, he worked as a stage coordinator at the AV Workshop. Later, from July to October 2019, he worked as the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts’ technological services coordinator.
Before November 2022, he was the director of event technology and technical director of Sns Staging. The pair kept their LGBT identification extremely public and offered glimpses of their lives together, including times of joy and pride. Whitcomb’s satisfaction with Napolitano’s successes was underscored in one of their shared moments, with the phrase “just my husband crushing it on national television.”

Ricky Whitcomb, Napolitano’s husband, confirmed his husband’s death on X. Whitcomb stated in one of his notes that Napolitano had fought an autoimmune condition discovered about two decades ago and died as a consequence of an infection. Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised Napolitano’s passion and flexibility in journalism.
Scott said in a message sent to Fox News employees on December 24,
“Matt did everything from anchoring to writing and producing for our audio platforms and loved being able to work in the journalism field that he trained for his entire life.”
