Will Shipley is a rising football running back. He was born on August 29, 2002, in North Carolina, United States. James, Shipley’s elder brother, is also an athlete. Will was born in Weddington and attended NC State University before enrolling at Clemson University in South Carolina. After donning the red for so many years, his parents, both NC State alumni, switched sides. Although he has converted many relatives to Tigers supporters, he thinks others remain ardent Wolfpack supporters.
Will Shipley began playing at a young age and polished his talents at Weddington High School in North Carolina. Despite missing his senior year, he concluded his high school career with 80 touchdowns, 84 receptions, and 4173 running yards. Shipley has 11 touchdowns and 16 catches for 739 yards in his debut season with the Clemson Tigers.
His numbers improved as he finished the second season with 13 touchdowns and 38 catches for over 1100 yards. He was chosen first-team All-ACC as an all-purpose player for his efforts in the 2022 season. Similarly, he was on the shortlist for several collegiate honors, including the Paul Hornung Award, for which he was a finalist.
Will Shipley’s Parents: James And Tammy Shipley
Will Shipley, a Clemson Tigers running back, is the son of James and Tammy Shipley. His father was born and reared in North Carolina and has a master’s degree in Sports Management from NC State University. He previously attended Catawba College. James Sr. was a football coach for his hometown’s football team, the Weddington Titans, and witnessing him teach the young boys for Pop Warner inspired both of his sons. Will began playing football at the age of four, with his elder brother, James Jr.
Their mother, Tammy, an NC State graduate, on the other hand, was a touch rigid about academics and valued education above all else. So she always made sure the lads finished their homework before going out to play games. Despite this, Tammy was pleased by her children’s athletic abilities and liked seeing them compete and play sports together.
Tammy was overjoyed when Will revealed an interest in becoming a professional athlete while still in high school. She’d watched him progress so much as a player over the years that she was confident he could do far better in athletics than in school. Nonetheless, he chose to continue his education at Clemson University, where he is pursuing a business degree while still playing collegiate football for the Tigers. His parents fully support their kid and are pleased with what he has accomplished so far. Their greatest want is for Will to win the national title with Clemson and then play in the NFL after college.
His Brother James Is a Lacrosse Player
Will Shipley’s elder brother, James Jr., is a Penn Quaker lacrosse player. He attended Weddington High School and participated in both the football and lacrosse teams. James was also the captain of his high school’s lacrosse team, which won three state titles (in 2017, 2018, and 2019). His football prowess has earned him various honors, including the two-time football state title (2016 and 2018) and Charlotte Football Player of the Year.
He came to Philadelphia after finishing high school to pursue his undergraduate degree in Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an honorable mention All-Ivy and Second-Team All-Ivy selection while playing for the Pennsylvania Athletics.
