Vancouver Canucks radio host Joey Kenward battling with leukemia

Vancouver, Canada – Former Swift Current Broncos broadcaster Joey Kenward recently revealed his battle with leukemia, sharing the news via social media. Kenward, known for his tenure with the Broncos and later as a broadcaster for the Vancouver Giants and Vancouver Canucks, disclosed his diagnosis of leukemia on November 24.

Since the diagnosis, Kenward, 46, has been undergoing treatment at Vancouver General Hospital. Despite his preference to be at home with his partner of 19 years and their two-year-old son, he acknowledged the necessity of receiving medical care under the supervision of physicians and nurses.

In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Kenward expressed his sudden confrontation with the diagnosis, revealing no prior indications of any health concerns until just days before his hospitalization. He emphasized the importance of regular blood testing, urging others not to take their health for granted.

Joey Kenward’s impactful career in sports broadcasting spanned various roles, notably as the voice of the Swift Current Broncos for three seasons from 2000-2003. He continued his journey as a broadcaster for the Vancouver Giants before a nine-season tenure with the Vancouver Canucks.
