“Unknown: The Lost Pyramid” Is Set To Premiere On Netflix

Unknown: The Lost Pyramid, an investigative documentary based on an expedition to recover ancient riches, is set to be released on Netflix soon. In the desert of Saqqara outside Cairo, Egypt, two of the world’s most prominent Egyptologists, Dr. Zahi Hawass and his student and adversary, Dr. Mostafa Waziri, will go on an expedition. The documentary will be available on Netflix on July 3, 2023.

The documentary will be released in one hour and 24 minutes as the first installment of a four-part docuseries titled Unknown. The program, which was created by Netflix in partnership with Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan’s famous production company, Story Syndicate, will tell stories of adventure and discovery in unknown places throughout the globe. “In this documentary, Egyptian archeologists dig into history, discovering tombs and artifacts over 4,000 years old as they search for a buried pyramid.” Both teams are racing against the clock to see who can make the biggest discovery and leave their imprint on history.”

The film begins with stills from the hunt and the sight of a woman’s mummy dating back 4,300 years. The footage also depicts the quest for a whole papyrus, which is thought to be more precious than gold. The voyage is the first of its type, and the teaser reveals that the Egyptologists will show the audience the insides of a complete tomb.

The trailer opens with the following voice:

“A well-preserved tomb is like a time capsule, full of spells and curses that protect the dead.” We are the first ones to venture inside after thousands of years of silence.”
