Norwalk, October 12, 2023 – The lacrosse community in Connecticut is in mourning as beloved coach Ty Guarente of Norwalk has passed away, leaving family and friends devastated. The sad news was confirmed on Thursday, October 12, 2023, through a heartfelt Facebook post that expressed the family’s deep grief: “This has been the hardest 3 months in our entire lives. The only thing that is getting us through this is knowing that you are no longer in pain. We know that you are now up there with mom walking around enjoying each other’s company.”
Ty Guarente, a respected figure in the lacrosse world, was known for his unwavering dedication and commitment to his profession. Although the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed publicly, the lacrosse community mourns the loss of a passionate and inspirational coach.
Guarente’s journey in education and sports was marked by excellence. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School and pursued further studies at West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management between 2012 and 2016. During his time at the university, he not only excelled academically but also actively contributed to the Theta Chi Fraternity as an Executive Board Member, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to his community.
His passion for sports and mentoring led him to various roles, including serving as a Camp Supervisor at Norwalk Public Schools and as a Varsity Wrestling Coach at Staples High School from November 2016 to March 2018. Guarente’s expertise extended to football as well, where he made a significant impact as the Varsity Football Coach at Bullard Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for five years and five months, starting from June 2018.

In addition to his coaching achievements, Guarente showcased his versatility in the professional arena, holding a significant position in International Logistics at Cooper Surgical. His adaptability and dedication were evident as he seamlessly navigated various fields, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and peers.
Ty Guarente’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he inspired, both on and off the field. The lacrosse community remembers him not only as a talented coach but also as a compassionate mentor and dedicated individual whose impact will be felt for years to come.
