Who was Tom Larson? Hailing from Webster Groves, Missouri, Larason shared his childhood with Skip Caray, both aspiring sportscasters. His broadcasting journey commenced in 1960 during his junior year at Westminster College, laying the groundwork for a prolific career. His professional endeavors took him through Bloomington and Peoria, Illinois, as well as Lansing, Michigan, where he honed his skills in the realm of sports commentary.

Tom Larson made an indelible mark as a reporter for The Boston Globe Pre-Game Report and as a play-by-play announcer for NESN’s ECAC Football coverage. His Boston career began in 1969 when he joined WSBK-TV 38, becoming the host of Boston Bruins Hockey and The Tom Larson Show. For 12 impactful years, Larson contributed to WSBK-TV 38, concurrently serving as the station’s Public Affairs Director.
From 1981 to 1988, Larson held the position of Sports Director at WHDH radio, showcasing his dedication to the Boston sports scene. In 1983, he was honored as “Boston’s Best Sportscaster” by Boston Magazine, solidifying his legacy in the industry. Larson continued to captivate audiences through numerous special presentations and regular shows on NESN since 1988, notably contributing to Bruins-centric programs like Bruins 70’s Snapshot and Bruins Banner Years.
