News Tim Keller

Tim Keller, a prominent Presbyterian pastor in America who founded a missionary group in New York City, has died. He was 72.

Keller, an evangelist known for his wit and grace, founded Redemptorist Presbyterian Church in Manhattan in 1989 and expanded it into the center of a network of churches across the city. “The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Scepticism,” his 2008 book, was on The New York Times bestseller list. He has sold more than 3 million copies of his books.

In June 2020, he revealed that he has pancreatic cancer and has since been receiving treatment. Keller’s son Michael announced on social media on Thursday (May 18) that his father has been discharged from the hospital and will now be in hospice care.

Tim Keller, founder and longtime senior pastor of Salvation Presbyterian Church, passed away this morning at the age of 72, believing in the sure and certain hope of a resurrection, Bruce Terrell wrote in an email announcing his departure. Terrell is a member of the Redemption Leadership Network.

We will always appreciate his leadership, generosity, and commitment to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. “While we will miss him here, we are confident that he is celebrating with his Savior in heaven,” said Terrell.

Timothy James Keller, born September 23, 1950, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, grew up in a Lutheran church and eventually joined the Protestant Church. His mother wanted him to become a pastor. But when he attended Bucknell University, he, like many other college students, lost interest in becoming a Christian.

Keller later recalled his conversion experience by participating in InterVarsity’s student ministry, where he was taught Bible study by a ministry leader named Barbara Boyd.

In his book “Jesus is King,” he claims that “during college, the Bible came to life in an indescribable way.” “The best way I can explain it is that, before the shift, I asked and examined the Bible in great detail. After the transition, however, it seemed as if the Bible, or perhaps Someone through the Bible, was studying me, probing and testing me.
