Tijere Jackson dies in Woodbury shooting in Camden

Tijere Jackson, a resident of Camden, New Jersey, and a graduate of Dodge City Community College, has passed away tragically. The heartbreaking news was confirmed through a fundraising page organized by a family member seeking support for funeral expenses.

The family described Tijere Jackson as their beloved son, brother, and uncle, emphasizing the sudden and unexpected nature of the loss. A GoFundMe campaign was initiated with the goal of raising $12,000 to help cover funeral costs. At the time of this publication, the campaign had raised $3,274, reflecting the community’s response and support for the grieving family.

Woodbury City Police responded to a report of gunfire at Wing-Dickerson Park, 36 Carpenter Street, on Saturday, December 2, 2023, around 1:22 AM. Upon arrival, they discovered Tijere K. Jackson, aged 21, with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Tragically, Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Jackson’s manner of death as homicide on December 3, 2023, citing a lethal gunshot wound as the cause of death.

In response to the incident, Woodbury Police, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division collaborated in investigating and identifying a juvenile suspect.

A car stop in Woodbury Heights led to the arrest of James Workman, 20, of Barrington, New Jersey. Workman allegedly pointed a gun at arresting officers during the stop. He is currently held at the Salem County Correctional Facility on various charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and weapons offenses.

Another individual, Amante Black-Thompson, 18, of Woodbury, was charged with criminal attempted robbery in connection with the incident.
