Tiantian Kullander, co-founder of cryptocurrency firm Amber Group, has died suddenly at the age of 30. His company announced the news in an official statement on its website, adding that he died in his sleep on Wednesday, November 23.
“Tiantian (or ‘TT’, as he’s affectionately called) played a key role in Amber’s founding and is fundamental to our success. He poured all his heart and energy into the company at every level of its development. With his knowledge, charity, humility, dedication and creativity, he sets a shining example.”
Tiantian Kullander co-founded Amber Group in 2017 with two financial executives from Goldman Sachs Group and Morgan Stanley. Before that, he worked as a teller at the aforementioned companies.

Tiantian Kullander was featured in Forbes Magazine.
Tiantian Kullander was included in the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for co-founding the Amber Group, which includes some of the best rising leaders and entrepreneurs. He is also included in the Asia Finance and Venture Capital list. In early November, the crypto organization received $3 billion in funds following a $200 million fundraising round.
Amber Group is also said to be in the process of funding around $100 million. The company recognized him as “essential to Amber’s foundation and fundamental to our success” in a lengthy statement.
“TT is an outstanding thought leader who is often regarded as a pioneer in the industry. His breadth of expertise, eagerness to participate, and relentless ambition to help others have supported countless startups and people. Many initiatives, individuals and communities have been inspired by his thinking and ingenuity.”
According to the statement, Tiantian Kullander, in addition to being the co-founder of the Amber Group, also sits on the board of directors of e-sports organization Fnatic.
“At TT, we have lost a great partner and a dear friend, and words cannot describe how we feel at this moment.” TT’s legacy will continue and we will work even harder to make Amber a leader in the industry, as well as TT’s goals and hopes. TT is a loving father, devoted husband and passionate friend. His death was a tragedy, and our hearts go out to his family.”
Tiantian Kullander left behind his wife and a small child. According to the New York Post, his death shocked many in the business, including Arthur Cheong, the co-founder of DeFiance Capital, who paid tribute to him on Twitter. Tiantian Kullander’s death comes just days after the death of bitcoin billionaire Nikolai Mushegian, leaving the financial world stunned. Mushegian drowned on a Puerto Rican beach on October 29. Before his death, he tweeted that the Mossad and CIA were hunting him and planning to assassinate him.
