Three detained after stabbing in Kilsyth and criminal damage in Mooroolbark, leaves 19-year-old injured

Kilsyth, Victoria – Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have apprehended three individuals following a series of incidents involving criminal damage in Mooroolbark and a stabbing in Kilsyth on Thursday, November 23.

The sequence of events began when the group targeted a property on Taylor Road in Mooroolbark around 1 am on November 22. They vandalized multiple windows at the front of a residence where a 70-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman were present but remained unharmed.

Subsequently, the group proceeded to another property on Durham Road, breaking several front windows around 1:20 am. A confrontation ensued when a 19-year-old resident challenged the group, leading to an altercation where he sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was later hospitalized for treatment, while a 19-year-old woman present at the home remained unharmed. Two of the offenders sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Afterward, the group fled the scene in a white 2001 Ford sedan. The driver later dropped off two of the offenders, aged 19 and 20, at a Maroondah hospital. They were subsequently arrested and are cooperating with the police in their investigations.

The driver, a 19-year-old from Dixons Creek, was apprehended on the Maroondah Highway in Chirnside Park around 4 am and is also assisting law enforcement.

While initial indications suggest the criminal damage in Mooroolbark might have been a case of mistaken identity, there appears to be a connection between the involved parties related to the stabbing incident in Kilsyth. Investigations by authorities are ongoing to determine further details regarding the incidents.
