“The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself” Is Set To Be Released On Netflix Soon

Netflix, famed for its wide Young Adult collection, is preparing to release a new series titled The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself. Jay Lycurgo will take the lead, with Nadia Parkes and Emilien Vekemans assisting. Lycurgo will portray Nathan Byrn, the illegitimate son of Marcus Edge, the World’s Most Dangerous Witch, in the YA program. Half Bad, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, based on Sally Green’s fantasy book, is set to be released on Friday, October 28, 2022.

The series, which will consist of eight one-hour episodes, will premiere on Netflix on Friday at 3 a.m. ET (or at midnight PT). Because Netflix normally releases episodes in bulk, it’s reasonable to anticipate that all of them will be accessible for watching on Friday.

According to the official summary of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself:

“Caught between two warring tribes, the son of an infamous witch responsible for a horrible slaughter seeks his place in the world – and his abilities.”

Nathan is a Half Code who is being watched by the Council of White Witches in The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself.

Nathan, the illegitimate offspring of a White witch (oppressive majority culture) and a Black man, is the protagonist of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself (a minority written off as evil). Nathan is labeled Half Code following his mother’s murder and is continuously scrutinized by the Council of White Witches because of his Black blood.

After breaking one of the Council of White Witches’ laws, Nathan is put under their direct control and assigned a new guardian, Celia. The remainder of the plot is about Nathan breaking free from Celia’s tyrannical control and reconnecting with his father, the supposed World’s Most Dangerous Witch Marcus Edge. The source material for The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, which was originally intended to be a film, was a huge success.

Half Bad, the first episode of the trilogy, was released in 2014 and was initially intended to be made into a feature film. Karen Rosenfelt, well known for her work on The Twilight Saga and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, was recruited on board to produce it. However, the project remained unfinished until Netflix announced in 2020 that it will produce a TV series based on the Half-Bad trilogy.

Half Bad set two Guinness World Records: ‘Most Translated Book by a Debut Author, Pre-publication’ and ‘Most Translated Children’s Book by a Debut Author, Pre-publication.’ The text was in considerable demand, and foreign rights were quickly sold. The work was also nominated for the prestigious Branford Boase Award and won the 2015 Waterstones Teen Book Prize. It produced two sequels, Half Wild and Half Lost, both of which will almost certainly be adapted by Netflix. However, the performance and reception of The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself will be crucial.
