Tammy Faye Bakker Cause of Death
Messner’s 11 years of cancer have been widely publicized. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in March 1996 and was in remission later that year.
Tammy Faye Bakker’s battle with cancer lasted more than 10 years, according to Reuters. She was diagnosed with colon cancer, and in 2004 she was told it had metastasized to her lungs, Reuters reported. She decided to end treatment in 2007 and died about two months later, according to ABC News.
She announced she was stopping treatment on her website, saying she weighed only 65 pounds and that she was ready to leave her condition “up to God and my faith.”
She wrote a “final note” on her website just days before her death. It says:
I have times when I feel good and times when I feel really bad. But, I learned one thing about emotions. They have nothing to do with belief in God!!
He is the same as yesterday and today and always will be. He never changes. That’s what the Bible says and God’s word never lies.
Messner died on July 20, 2007 at his home in Loch Lloyd, Missouri, near Kansas City, Missouri, after an 11-year battle with cancer. She was 65 years old then. On the morning of July 21, a family ceremony was held at the Messner family estate in Waldron, Kansas. Pastor Randy McCain, pastor of Open Door Community Church in Sherwood, Arkansas, presided over the ceremony. According to CNN, King’s family has requested that news of her death be made public. Her body was cremated and her ashes were returned to Waldron Cemetery, where they were interred.
