Talented pickleball player John Liston from Fremont from dies at 65

Fremont, Nebraska – The passing of John David Liston, a beloved figure in Fremont known for his zest for life and dedication to his community, has left a profound void in the hearts of many. Liston’s unexpected demise on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 65 has sparked an outpouring of condolences and remembrances from those who knew and admired him.

While the exact cause of his passing remains undisclosed, Liston was cherished for his passion for life and unwavering commitment to his faith. He was an active and devoted member of Lifegate, where he found purpose in serving God and assisting others within his local church community. His career in agricultural sales provided him with immense fulfillment as it allowed him to forge meaningful connections with farmers, a role he embraced with enthusiasm.

For Liston, the golf course and playing pickleball were cherished pastimes that brought him immense joy. He relished moments spent alongside his wife, their two dogs, and their six beloved horses, treasuring these moments dearly. Yet, his greatest sources of happiness were found in his children and the precious time he shared with his grandchildren.

John Liston is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Ruth Liston (Meier), his brother, James Liston, and a son.

He is survived by his loving children, Victoria & Matt Tomanek (Papillion, NE), Valerie & Nick Prenzlow (Arlington, NE), Adam & Mandi Liston (Fremont, NE), and Alex & Brandy Liston (Elkhorn, NE). Additionally, he is survived by his wife, Kathy Liston (Fremont, NE), his sister, Joan Licht (Hooper, NE), stepson, Jason Hinds (Beaumont, TX), and a host of adoring grandchildren, including Brenna & David Prenzlow, Ella, Lane, Kyla & Cal Tomanek, Brooks, August, & Scarlett Liston, Lilly & Clayton Liston, and step-granddaughter, Tristen Hinds.

The Liston family will receive visitors for a visitation at Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N Somers Ave, Fremont, NE 68025, on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 PM. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Lifegate Church, 2407 N Colorado Ave, Fremont, NE 68025, at 3:00 PM.
