Neil Patrick Harris, the show’s star, previously stated:

“Doing a s*xy performance with homosexual material that is readily noticed and digested by everyone, in my opinion, is a step in an exciting direction. I believe we are in a really fortunate period, at least as performers, to be able to be in an Uncoupled because a show like this would not have been made 10 years ago, much alone five years ago.”

He went on to remark that the narrative was more of a coming-of-age tale. That was a narrative about young people grappling with their sexuality and what it meant. The actor said that it was wonderful that it was a narrative that has been told and is still being repeated.
