Neil Patrick Harris, the show’s star, previously stated:

“Doing a s*xy performance with homosexual material that is readily noticed and digested by everyone, in my opinion, is a step in an exciting direction. I believe we are in a really fortunate period, at least as performers, to be able to be in an Uncoupled because a show like this would not have been made 10 years ago, much alone five years ago.”

He went on to remark that the narrative was more of a coming-of-age tale. That was a narrative about young people grappling with their sexuality and what it meant. The actor said that it was wonderful that it was a narrative that has been told and is still being repeated.

Showtime has joined Paramount+ and is now developing a number of new series and spinoffs. They would want to concentrate on tales with smart characters. Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family writer Jeffrey Richman collaborated on Uncoupled.
