Saratoga Springs, NY – A terrifying incident unfolded at Saratoga Hospital on Sunday, leading to a stabbing incident involving two nurses within the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Saratoga Springs Police Chief Tyler McIntosh confirmed that the violent act was carried out by a patient, prompting a swift and thorough investigation by local authorities.
According to Chief McIntosh, the injuries sustained by the two nurses have been assessed as non-life-threatening. Jim Montagnino, the Commissioner of Public Safety for the city, revealed that the nurses, dedicated employees of the ICU, were attacked during their duties. Following the incident, the assailant experienced cardiac arrest.
In a statement, the Saratoga Springs Police Department provided details of the incident: “Early this morning, members of our department responded to Saratoga Hospital for a report of two employees who had been stabbed by a patient. Both employees had visible injuries but did not appear to be life-threatening. Members of both our Patrol and Investigations Division responded, and our Investigators are continuing to gather relevant information and evidence regarding this incident.”
The authorities have identified a suspect, and criminal charges are pending.
