Sara Bareilles announced her engagement to longtime lover and actor Joe Tippett in an Instagram message to her 800,000 followers on New Year’s Day. In the post, Bareilles posted a sweet snap of the couple looking into each other’s eyes and added that Joe proposed to her and her response was an easy and calm ‘yes’. The photo includes a beautiful message alluding to his influence on her. It stated:
“The more I get to know you, the more I realize how much I admire you… and you showed me pieces of myself that I dreaded so much. And because of you, I love myself even more. So it’s really all about me.
She continued:
“I’m joking. What a blessing to you. Allow the game to start. With you, I will learn everything.”

Sara Bareilles has notably composed music and lyrics for the musical Waitress, which received four Tony Award nominations in 2016. She first met Joe Tippett in 2015, when he auditioned for the role in Waitress studio at the American Repertory Theater in Boston. He was eventually cast in the production as Earl. On the other hand, Tippett did not join the cast of Waitress on Broadway. After his current fiancée ended her tenure on the show, he joined the cast in 2017.
