Samantha Olekszy, Boyne Highlands Resort supervisor dies at 26

Boyne Highlands Resort, Michigan – The hearts of all who knew her are heavy with grief as the news of Samantha Olekszy’s sudden passing shakes the community. Samantha, a Level 2 Event Supervisor at Boyne Highlands Resort, was a vibrant soul who left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She passed away on September 10th, 2023, at the young age of 26. At the time of this publication, the cause of her death remains undisclosed.

Samantha’s radiant spirit will be deeply missed and cherished forever. She is survived by her loving parents, James Michael Olekszy and Heidi Marie West, and her siblings, Celia and McLane. Her loss is profoundly felt by her extended family, numerous friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.

Born on June 10, 1997, Samantha was a beloved and vibrant individual who excelled in various aspects of life, leaving an enduring impact on those she encountered. From a young age, she embraced dance and softball, later finding her true passion in golf, where she achieved remarkable success during her high school years. Samantha was not only an accomplished athlete but also dedicated herself to her academic pursuits, working in a restaurant while prioritizing family. She graduated from Walled Lake Western in 2015 and earned a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Michigan State University in 2021, nurturing dreams of a career in Event Planning.

Samantha’s zest for life extended beyond her academic and professional achievements, evident in her extensive travels, including memorable journeys to Europe and Australia. Her meticulous planning and infectious enthusiasm made each adventure an unforgettable experience. However, her most cherished aspect of life was her close-knit, loving family, which included numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Samantha’s infectious personality radiated confidence and warmth, making her a natural leader at family gatherings, where she crafted treasured memories for all. Her absence will be deeply felt, as she brought life and joy to every family event.

Family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, during visitation on Friday, September 15th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Samantha’s memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. (visitation at 9:30 a.m.) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd., Farmington.

Samantha Olekszy’s legacy of vitality, warmth, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
