Saint X, Hulu’s next horror series, is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 12 a.m. ET. It tells the story of Alison, a young girl who went missing while on vacation with her family on the Caribbean island of Saint X. As Alison’s family deals with the aftermath of her death, the series deals with issues of privilege, racism, and justice. Saint X, based on the book by Alexis Schaitkin, is expected to stir up the traditional debate about whether a TV series will prevail over its source novel. Interestingly, after watching the clip, many people compared Saint X to The White Lotus, which premieres on HBO in 2021.

The trailer for Saint X depicts the Thomas family taking a tour of their resort on Saint X, a fictional Caribbean island. During their visit, their eldest daughter, Alison, forms a strange bond with the two boys at the resort, Clive and Edwin. Alison attended a social event at their resort on the last night of their trip and then went missing. After her body was found, two men, Clive and Edwin, were accused of killing her.
Due to a lack of evidence, police quickly concluded the death was an accident. However, after years of seemingly unsolved death, Emily Thomas, now an adult, decides to find out what really happened to her older sister, Alison, on the island. This trailer made us question the whole concept and forced us to create our own assumptions. According to Hulu’s description of the trailer:

Saint X is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on April 26, 2023. The first three episodes will be published simultaneously, with subsequent episodes every Wednesday. The final episode of the eight-episode series will premiere on May 31, 2023. Saint X will premiere on Disney platforms in the United Kingdom on June 7, 2023.

Alexis Schaitkin’s best-selling book Saint X is filled with unexpected twists in the investigation that interest the reader. The novel’s unsettling effect remains in the reader’s mind long after turning the last page, creating a lasting imprint.
The difference between the trailer and the book is that in the novel, Emily, who is introduced as the sister in the series, is a PhD student who is fascinated by Alison’s story. In the novel, Alison is called Claire, while her sister is called Alison. The identities of individuals can be changed, but Saint X director Dee Rees has ensured that the story remains comparable, if not identical.
