Ross Myers Obituary: 12-year-old boy killed after being hit by a car in Paulding, Ohio

Paulding County, Ohio – The community of Paulding, Ohio, is in mourning following the tragic loss of Ross Erwin Myers, a vibrant 12-year-old with a bright future ahead. Ross’s life was cut short when he was involved in a heartbreaking accident on September 4, 2023, leaving his family and community devastated.

Ross was born on April 25, 2011, in Van Wert, Ohio, to his parents, James Myers and Melanie Bandy. He was a 7th-grade student at Paulding Junior High School, where he actively participated in school activities. Ross was a member of the cross country and soccer teams, served on the student council, and attended Lifewise Academy.

He was also an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he found a sense of belonging and community. Ross was a young boy full of dreams and aspirations. He had a strong passion for fitness, baking, and cooking, and he aspired to become an entrepreneur, driven by his limitless imagination and ambition.

Ross’s warm and loving spirit touched the lives of those around him. He was a source of inspiration and joy, radiating positivity and kindness to everyone he met. Whether he was engaged in fitness activities, whipping up delicious treats in the kitchen, or pursuing his dreams, Ross approached life with enthusiasm and an unwavering zest.

Ross is survived by his father, Jim (Tomomi Gallagher) Myers of Van Wert, Ohio; his mother, Melanie Bandy of Paulding, Ohio; his maternal grandmother, Sandy Bandy of Paulding, Ohio; his brother, Drew (Kate) Myers of Bloomington, Indiana; his sisters: Vivi Myers of Paulding, Ohio; Tricia Hughes of Delphos, Ohio; Lexi Myers of Columbus, Ohio; his stepsiblings: Sara Gallagher and Andrew Gallagher, both of Van Wert, Ohio; his aunts: Donna (Larry) Clouse of Van Wert, Ohio; Nikki (Greg McCray) Harris of Van Wert, Ohio; Jessica Bandy of Columbus, Ohio; and his uncle, Jason (Carrie) Bandy of Canton, Ohio.

Ross was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Jane Harris, Edward, and Pat Raudabaugh; and his maternal grandfather, Erwin Bandy.

A funeral service to celebrate Ross’s life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Jeremy Thompson officiating. Ross will be laid to rest in Paulding Memorial Cemetery following the service.

Visitation to pay respects and offer support to the family will take place from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). There will also be visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service on Saturday.
