Following the announcement of a merger between LIV Golf and PGA Tour rivals, golf great Rory McIlroy released a statement. Several players, including McIlroy, were surprised by Tuesday’s announcement, ending a lengthy legal battle and dispute.
McIlroy, a strong opponent of LIV Golf, revealed that he is aware of the ongoing negotiations between the two competitive tours. However, the 34-year-old was surprised to see the contract completed so quickly and was unprepared for the announcement.
