Robbie McKinley, a legendary skater, passed away Tuesday at the age of 43 (March 28, 2023). Mackenzie Eisenhour, a close friend of McKinley, confirmed his death on Instagram with a snap of McKinley sitting in an armchair on the sidewalk.
“One of the best people I have had the honor to know,” he wrote. “Probably my all-time favorite style of skating at his peak. My best man at my wedding, independent roommate and first person outside the hospital to see my daughter Luca when we got home.

Born in Los Angeles in 1980 (1980 – Died aged 43 in 2023), McKinley relocated several times during his teenage years trying to break into skateboarding. He moved to California’s Inland Empire in fifth grade and moved to Florida with his mother.
It was only a minor setback as he was only recently noticed by Society USA, a skateboarding team. Fortunately, his mother agreed to let him fly back to Los Angeles to shoot the commercial; He stayed in the city with his father.
McKinley, alias McCrooks, is known for his daring skate style. Highlights include the switch-front heel flip he performed at UCLA, which was shot for the Association’s poster and became the talk of the town.
His popularity skyrocketed after appearing in classic skating videos such as Harsh Euro Barge, Rodney Mullen vs Daewon Song, Yeah Right!, and DC Video in the early 2000s.
Directed by Oscar-winning director Spike Jonze, Yeah Right! known for its special effects and the use of green screens to create the “invisible skateboard” part. Other famous names on the project include Keenan Milton, Brian Anderson and Marc Johnson.
The skater is survived by his mother, Iwona; his sister is Jennifer and her husband, Louis; and grandson Lukasz.
