Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly was born in Washington, D.C. as an only child. Her father is of African American ancestry, and her mother is of Puerto Rican ancestry. She grew up in Maryland’s Prince George’s County. She was raised in a rap music environment because her father was a rapper. She grew up listening to famous musicians such as Beyoncé, Jill Scott, Bob Marley, Jay-Z, and Nas.
