Richard Wilkins’ career
Richard Wilkins debuted in the media as Richard Wilde and immediately became famous as a rising singer. PolyGram signed a global contract with him.
He moved Wilde And Reckless to Australia in 1980, where they enjoyed great success, publishing several singles and a six-song EP, and touring with Grace Jones. Then he decided to leave the music business.
Wilkins was the first host of MTV Australia when it debuted on Nine in 1987, and this is where he began his career as a TV presenter alongside Joy Smithers. David Campbell co-hosted Today Extra in 2019 because he was hosting Weekend Today at the time. He succeeded in being hired as the co-host of Today’s Weekend the following year.
