Murder Most Foul, in which he also starred and co-wrote with Wong Jing, was his directorial debut. he became a director in 1979.
Ng was twice nominated for Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards for his roles in Winners and Sinners and Beyond the Sunset. He has collaborated with some of Hong Kong’s biggest action stars, including Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Andy Lau and Jet Li.
Ng went on to appear in all subsequent Lucky Stars films in the 1980s, taking on the role of ‘Sandy’ in later installments. He also became known for his role in the series Pom Pom, a spin-off of the Lucky Star series, alongside Lucky Star John Shum.
