Born on December 26, 1973, in Wilson, North Carolina, Rhonda Nixon emerged from humble beginnings in a small town with ambitious dreams. She embarked on her educational journey at North Carolina Central University, where she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Corrections from 1992 to 1996. Rhonda’s professional path led her to the esteemed BB&T, where she held the role of merchant & fraud analyst. During her tenure, she set high standards for client service, showcasing a professional demeanor while swiftly and accurately responding to inbound client calls.
Rhonda’s dedication went beyond client service. She displayed a keen eye for detecting fraud trends and schemes, contributing to the bank’s risk-mitigation strategies. Accumulating over 25 years of corporate experience in the banking sector, her expertise extended from Project Management to championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Interestingly, Rhonda’s connection with the “Y” organization evolved during her employment, allowing her to fully embrace its mission. Her time at the “Y” granted her the unique opportunity to embody the organization’s core values by fostering a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Just as we were preparing for my Dad’s Visitation service I got the news that my sweet sister Rhonda Nixon had unexpectedly gained her wings. My linesisters had been sending me condolences all week and made sure someone was present last night to support me and present my family with a beautiful card. I was told Rhonda made a call to make sure I was “taken care of.” That’s a true testiment to the kind of heart she has. Always thinking of others. When ever all of us are together I can always count being greeted with a big smile and hug and then “Poodie how have you been? Are you ok?” You represent Delta well Rhonda. A true woman of Fortitude. Sleep easy sister. My heart is crushed.
