Aside from that, he is really close to his family, who have been there for him since he began playing football. He said that his father never misses any of his games and that he would sometimes arrive three or four days before the game.

His football Journey

Kolo Mauni reminisced on his football experience so far in an interview with Vista. He said that he initially performed the exams in Serie C and then in Serie B. He was more pleased to move to Serie B since he had nothing left after the U17 nationals and didn’t want to continue.

He either wanted to go or do something. He took the Serie C exam in his first year and the Serie B test in his second year, and his preparation was going well, but his father didn’t think so. His father once phoned and inquired as to what was going on. He questioned him about the contracts and everything, but he didn’t know anything. His father told him that his school was about to start and that he needed to return home, which he denied since he wanted to remain there at any cost. He assumed football was done and grieved the whole night following the call, pondering what he was going to do.

He returned home and began meeting with his agency. His father would speak with his agents more than he would. He played for a number of Paris teams before joining Nantes’ development program at the age of 15 and signing a professional deal with the club in 2018. Kolo Mauni said he was nothing at 17 years old. He was just exercising and paying attention to his parents and agency.

He was named to the FIFA World Cup squad in lieu of Nkunku.

Didier Deschamps just picked up Kolo Mauni to the World Cup 2022 team. He took over for RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku, who was forced out of the competition after injuring himself during training. On November 16, 2022, he was summoned to replace the injured Nkunku. Kolo Mauni gained his first call-up to the national squad in September 2022, for two UEFA Nations League matches.

He said that he did not expect to see his name on Deschamps’ roster, but his brother and friends had informed him that there had been rumors that he would be selected, so he switched on the television to see the news conference. He was actually taken aback when he heard his name. He was on the phone with his brother, telling him he would meet up with him later to contact his father.  He stated that his mother was sobbing because she was very proud of him.

He has participated in 14 games since joining Frankfurt in March 2022. In 14 Bundesliga games, he showed himself as one of the bright prospects, scoring five goals and giving 11 assists. His performance has piqued the curiosity of many major teams.

Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Kroshe remarked in an interview that it is not in their plans to release him next summer and that they are the appropriate environment for him and that staying with them would help him improve in the years to come.
