Ramadan Relief: Government lifts CNIC requirement for subsidized products

According to reports, the requirement to present a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to purchase subsidized products at Convenience Store stores was lifted on Tuesday. The purpose of this decision is to facilitate the less fortunate in using government subsidies during the month of Ramadan. However, it is important to note that this exemption does not apply to purchases of wheat, sugar and ghee.

Earlier this month, the government launched an Rs. The Ramazan relief package is worth $5 billion to support the less fortunate and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expanded the program to include 19 subsidized goods. These goods currently include flour, ghee, sugar, cooking oil, tea, dates, besan, dal mash, dal mong, milk, beverages and spices. It is hoped that this initiative will provide some financial relief to the people during the month of Ramadan.
