The New Democrats have received the backing of one of Alberta’s most seasoned politicians in former MLA Blake Pedersen.
He and Danielle Smith, the party’s leader at the time, were both elected MLA Wildrose in Medicine Hat in 2012. Pedersen defected with her to Jim Prentice’s Radical Conservative Party, and in 2015, The party he currently sponsors has humiliated him politically as a result.
